Desire Street is pleased to announce that the award-winning Visionaries documentary series has produced an episode featuring Desire Street Ministries entitled, “Turning Barriers into Bridges.” The documentary describes the work that Desire Street does to encourage, equip and connect local ministry leaders in under-resourced neighborhoods. It also documents many of the issues facing these communities, and why it’s important to support the leaders of transformative outreach.

The documentary is this year’s Bronze Telly Winner in the category of Television: Social Responsibility. “With a record-shattering number of entries, this year’s Telly Award entrants truly represent the most innovative video and television work being made for all screens,” says Sabrina Dridje, Managing Director of The Telly Awards.

We are particularly delighted that the film showcases the work of several of our Atlanta-area partners. Featured on the film are Justina Dix of Summerhill Community Ministries, LaTonya Gates-Boston of PAWKids, Benjamin Wills of Peace Preparatory Academy, and Drew Henley of Redeemer Community Church. Leaders like these are working with their neighbors to reach hundreds of kids and families in under-resourced neighborhoods across the Southeastern US.

The half-hour show is part of Visionaries 23rd season, now airing on public television stations across the U.S. Check back here for other air dates as we know them, or see the regularly updated Visionaries carriage site for viewing times in your area.
