TURNING BARRIERS INTO BRIDGES
We are particularly delighted that the 30-minute film also showcases the work of several of our ministry partners. Featured on the film are LaTonya Gates-Boston of PAWKids, Benjamin Wills of Peace Preparatory Academy, Drew Henley of Redeemer Community Church, Alumni Partner Justina Dix of Summerhill Community Ministries, and Alumni Partner Ben McLeish of Thrive New Orleans. Leaders like these are working with their neighbors to reach hundreds of kids and families in under-resourced neighborhoods across the Southeastern US.
Enjoy! And tell us what you think!
The Visionaries documentary series is hosted by acclaimed actor Sam Waterston of HBO’s The Newsroom and Grace and Frankie and formerly of Law & Order. Visionaries has highlighted the rarely told stories of over 220 non-profit organizations and individuals who are working to create positive social change throughout the world. The series has won several Telly Awards and an Emmy nomination for Best Documentary.
Visionaries founder and executive producer Bill Mosher said, “Viewers will be astounded to discover people just like them who are changing the world in ways they can replicate in their own cities and towns. That is the really exciting thing – we are spreading positive solutions across the country.” The episode on Desire Street and some of our ministry partners is part of Season 23 about which Mosher said, “Here are 12 episodes on monumental issues without the politics and partisanship that shape so much of public discourse. Viewers will be astounded to discover people just like them who are changing the world in ways they can replicate in their own cities and towns. That is the really exciting thing – we are spreading positive solutions across the country.”
