Thanks Champ!

The heavens declare the glory of God…They have no speech, they use no words…
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth…

like a champion rejoicing to run his course.

Psalm 19: 1-5

You may have noticed that we’ve been talking a lot this week and recently about our Champions. If you receive our Journey newsletter, you saw an announcement there. You might have received a letter in the last week or so as well. And if you Facebook or Tweet, we might have reached you there.

I want to take this platform as well to publicly thank and honor our Champions–people who regularly pray for and support the work of Desire Street Ministries. A Champion has made a monthly or quarterly pledge to support our work, and we simply could not do it without them! They have made such a difference in the lives of our ministry partners and all the kids and families they reach. Thanks to our Champions, there are seven inner-city neighborhoods in six cities across five states that are being transformed through spiritual and community development.

Our Champions run the race tirelessly it seems, and yet I know that sometimes they sacrifice a lot to do the work of the kingdom through Desire Street. Many of them put their giving “on autopilot,” but that doesn’t mean that they don’t miss those few dollars a month they willingly share with us. In these times of increasing costs of living and many, many good causes to support, our Champions could easily stop their support to make it easier on themselves.

But instead, they are changing lives through Desire Street. Instead they are encouraging inner-city ministries who are encouraging “the least of these.” Instead their voice goes out and they rejoice to run their course.

I’d like to invite you to consider being our Champion, a member of this elite team of friends who pray for and support Desire Street Ministries as we coach and care for urban ministers. To learn more, click here to see how to get involved.

And if you’re not able to help right now, please say a prayer thanking God, as I do, for these faithful folks who are Champions to us!

God bless,
Danny
